I have been getting really into creating my own simmer pots lately! And these are some of my favorite, tried and true spring scent combos that will have your home smelling fresh and clean for spring!
Also, I wanted to let you know that this blog post is one of eight posts in a Spring Blog Hop I’m participating in with a few blogging friends. I will be sharing all of the links at the end of this post. So be sure to check those out for tons of spring inspo and ideas you won’t want to miss!!
What is a simmer pot?
A simmer pot, or a stovetop potpourri is basically a way to add a nice scent or fragrance to your home. You add a few ingredients and some water to a pot. Then you bring it to a boil. Once it’s boiling, you turn down the temperature and let it simmer while it fills your home with the scent of the ingredients! Y’all know I love a good candle! But there’s something extra cozy and inviting about simmer pots!!
How long do you let it simmer?
I tend to let my simmer pots go all day! When I notice the water getting low in the pot, I top it off with more water and let it keep on simmering. It will stay fragrant for the entire day! This is especially nice when you’re spring cleaning. You can boil one of these spring simmer pot recipes while you clean your home and that way you refresh your spaces and the air in your home all at the same time!
Spring Simmer Pot Recipes
The nice thing about these spring simmer pot recipes is that you can mix and match and make it your own combo depending on what you already have on hand or what scents you prefer! There’s no right or wrong combination. But these are a few of my go to spring simmer pot recipes. They all include citrus fruit, which is a scent I never tire of, and one that is especially perfect for the season if you ask me!!

What to do with simmer pot when done?
Here at the farmhouse, we compost pretty regularly. You can read more about that in [this post]. So when I’m done with a simmer pot, I just add all of the boiled ingredients into our compost bin! You can also just drain the water and toss the ingredients into your regular garbage.
