Memorial Day & 4th of July Summer Tablescape
Happy Monday y’all! I am literally so excited to share this Memorial Day and 4th of July summer tablescape with you on the blog today! Especially since this post goes hand in hand with a pretty exciting announcement over on IG!! I don’t decorate for every little holiday throughout the year, mainly Christmas and the 4th! But those times of the year you can find more color in my house than any other time of the year!
So first lets talk about the tablescape! To me, summer is all about outdoor entertaining. So I decided to deck out the front porch in Red, White & Blue and serve up some delicious strawberry shortcake!
To transform this space, I started with a little white and woodgrain of course, in the form of this round, white painted table and our wood dining chairs! Then I layered on the vintage and patriotic touches. The chippy white candlesticks in the center of the table were a DIY project. You can see exactly how I made them in this blog post. And the red and blue plates and the clear goblets were from our wedding! We collected vintage china and drinking glasses for our wedding years back, and they come in handy for creating fun and unique tablescapes like this!! I topped everything off with some milk glasses and mini flags, and the table was set!
For the cake table I used our vintage Coca Cola crate as a riser for the cake stand. We served up a pound cake, with strawberries, and whipped cream… perfectly refreshing and just the right amount of sweet!! And the colors are on point for Memorial Day and the 4th of July.
Lastly, I mixed in a few vintage glass pieces, a few more flags, and some pretty white florals to complete this scene. I love how this look turned out! It totally transformed this little corner of the porch, and if it were up to me, I’d leave it up for days!! My littlest loved getting to join in on the fun, and we pretended to have our own little porch party!
Now, about that Instagram announcement… A girlfriend of mine named Coy also shares her home and her love of home decor, DIY’s and farmhouse style. You can find her account at @southernsewin over on IG. She and I have been working so hard behind the scenes on a fun new way to gather inspiration and share other accounts that we find inspiring. Seeing as how both of us are from NC, we are using the hashtag #homewiththecarolinagirls. And we’re officially launching it today! We’re inviting accounts who share home decor, farmhouse style, DIY’s, seasonal decor, etc. to use the hashtag on their posts daily. And then once a week on Monday’s we’ll be sharing out favorites with you!
And to celebrate the launch of the hashtag, we both created a Memorial Day and 4th of July summer tablescape! You’ll have to go check Coy’s tablescape out when you finish this post because it is stunning!! I hope you found today’s post inspiring! And I hope it gets you excited about all the fun to come at #homewiththecarolinagirls over on the gram! I think it will be a really fun way to connect with some new friends who share my love of home decor! And I really look forward to discovering a few new favorite accounts to follow!! Thanks for stopping by the blog today, and as always, thanks so much for following along…
Great job on the tables!!! Your photography has come a long way Baby!!!
Thank you! You taught me well! 🙂
Hi there! Where did you get the flag banner/garland from? thanks!
Hey Kayla! I got it at either Home Goods or TJ Maxx. I can’t remember the exact name of the brand and it doesn’t seem to have a tag. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!!
hi! where did you find the coke crate?
Hi Emily, I found it at a local antique shop called Baker Street Curiosity Shop in Wilmington, NC 🙂 If you’re ever in the area it’s a great place to check out!
I see you had delicious whipped cream on your dessert but no whipped cream on your lovely tablescape. I have a suggestion. You could put an aerosol whipped cream out, but first wrap it in a securely adhered decorative paper. Or, a bowl of freshly whipped cream nestled into a larger bowl of ice. Thank you for sharing your decorating ideas.
What a great idea Patricia! I love whipped cream and these desserts hardly lasted long enough to photograph. 🙂 Happy to share and thanks for saying hello!
