Looking Back at 2020!

As December comes to a close, I find myself looking back on 2020, and reflecting on all that’s happened in my life and in our world, the good things and the bad. I think it’s safe to say that this year turned out so differently than any of us could have ever imagined! It can be so easy to get caught up in the bad, but I think it’s also important to identify and acknowledge the good as well!

It was definitely a crazy year… but there is always so much to be thankful for!! So in the spirit of looking back on 2020, here’s a few things that happened in my own life and here on the blog since launching White and Woodgrain…

Family Life in 2020

This year, was an especially big year for our family! We parented through a pandemic, virtual learning and all. Huge thank you to all the teachers by the way! I have never appreciated teachers more than I do after this year!! I spent more time with my husband than ever before! He usually travels quite a bit for work. It’s been really nice having him home more consistently! I turned 30. Which just feels wild to even type! I watched my brother get engaged and married to the love of his life! And this past October, I launched my blog White and Woodgrain!

Most Popular Blog Post of 2020

I was really interested to find out that my most viewed blog post of 2020 was actually my first post ever! I shared a little more of the backstory of the re-build of our farmhouse, and I also shared the episode of Fixer Upper that inspired many of our design choices.

The Antique Store I Visited the Most in 2020

Hands down, the antique store I frequented the most in 2020 was Fleabody’s Antique Mall. This is one of my favorite shops in our area and I could literally spend hours there!! I plan to share more of my favorite small shops here on the blog in 2021 so stay tuned for future posts!

Most Frequently Asked Questions

Since launching the blog, I’ve gotten so many questions centered around two topics: the old house and the sources for items or products you see in our home.

The old house, as we have always called it, was built prior to the civil war by my family many generations ago. One of my main goals during the re-build and even now has always been to honor those generations in our home. The history of our home and our family’s story mean so much to me, and I plan to share more of this type of content here on the blog next year! For now, you can take a mini tour of “The Old House”.

I also plan to share more sources for products I use and love, sources for home decor elements you see in our farmhouse, as well as info on some of my favorite places to shop. Stay tuned for updates as we incorporate more of this content into the blog as well!

4 Thing’s I’m Looking Forward to in 2021

  1. Decluttering my home and participating in the Declutter Like a Mother Challenge with Allie Cassaza. I participated in DLAM at the beginning of 2020 and it was amazing! I’m so looking forward to getting our clutter under control and spending more time on the things that matter in 2021… If you’re even just a little intrigued, go give Allie a follow and join DLAM!
  2. Lots of DIY projects here around the farmhouse and the farm!
  3. Antique shopping! I plan to start sharing more of my antiquing and junkin’ adventures here on the blog as well, and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite honey holes with y’all!
  4. Growing White and Woodgrain and seeing where it can take our family! I have such big hopes and dreams for this blog and for the farm. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I’m excited to see what the future holds!
